2008 World Children's Day - A Visit to Hospital de Santa Maria
Last Friday, May 30, Luís Figo visited Hospital de Santa Maria, in Lisbon, and handed out presents to children who were hospitalized, in an action that spawned from "Children's Week" and was organized under the name of the Luís Figo Foundation.
The reception was presided by a representative of the Board of Hospital de Santa Maria, which was followed by the pre-scheduled visit to the different pediatric services at the hospitals in which Figo handed out presents offered by the LFF to children and young people who were hospitalized. Other than books, toys and sports equipment’s, Luís Figo gave out autographs.
The LFF, as usually happens on Children's Day, handed out over 1250 toys and books to children and youngsters hospitalized in several different hospitals. This year, around 20 hospitals were visited across the country.
With this initiative, the Luís Figo Foundation wishes to collaborate in promoting the well-being and self-esteem of sick children, thus minimizing their suffering and limitations caused by their health status.
