Luis Figo made a “technical” visit to the City of Rock to prepare the action.

About 400 disadvantaged children will live the Children's Day in a very special way.

Luis Figo Foundation and the organization of the biggest event of music and entertainment in the world, will celebrate together the Children's Day, receiving 400 disadvantaged children, from across the country, at the City of Rock on 1st of June.

In order to prepare and mark this partnership, Rock in Rio invited Luís Figo and his Foundation to visit the City of Rock. Roberta Medina, Executive Vice President of Rock in Rio, guided the tour through the assemblies of the Parque da Bela Vista, taking the opportunity to explain the different spaces and stages that will become and be part of the City of Rock.

According Roberta Medina, "Luís Figo Foundation, like Rock in Rio, through its Social Project, develops and collaborates with programs and projects aimed at children and disadvantaged youth. There are more than 11 million € invested in several social and environmental causes and only in this edition, through Gymkhana Rock in Rio, we send 262.000€ for music scholarships for young people in basic and high school levels, disadvantaged and at-risk. When we were contacted by the Luís Figo Foundation, we accepted the challenge immediately so that we could provide a different day to these children”.

The hundreds of children and young people who will live this "day" in a very special way, came from social solidarity institutions, such as, Portuguese Red Cross, Santa Casa da Misericórdia, “O Século” Foundation, CrescerSer, the Social Movement “Movimento ao Serviço da Vida”, Casa dos Rapazes, among others, with the presence of the responsibles of each institution.

Luis Figo said that "This Children's Day, which we are keen to point annually falls on the various initiatives and projects that the Foundation has developed and is very rewarding for us, to provide these unique moments of joy to children and young people, living in frankly difficult situations”.

By supporting the initiative of Luis Figo Foundation, Rock in Rio offers these children the opportunity to spend a different day and to attend to the concerts and enjoy multiple entertainments in the City of Rock.

The Rock in Rio Lisboa is back to Parque da Bela Vista on 25 and 26 of May, and 1, 2 and 3 of June 2012 and so far are confirmed the presence of Metallica, Evanescence, Mastodon and Sepultura with Tambours du Bronx on May 25, Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park, the Offspring and Limp Bizkit on May 26, Lenny Kravitz, Maroon 5, Ivete Sangalo and Expensive Soul on June 1, and Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Xutos & Kicks, James and Kaiser Chiefs on June 3.
