AllStars 2010 - Angola / Benguela

The LFF contributed with 80.000€ for the new project from Swatch, a Home for the World (uma Casa para o Mundo). The child of the funds raised from the AllStars game that took place last Saturday in Angola, this project's goal is to build, in Lisbon, a Temporary Foster Center for refugee children, with the Portuguese Council for Refugees.

With an inauguration predicted to happen next year, this will the first foster center of this kind in Portugal, with a capacity for 14 simultaneous children which, due to armed forced conflicts, natural catastrophes or persecutions, had to move. With the sponsorship of the Luís Figo Foundation, this project is sponsored by Dra. Maria Cavaco Silva and is also able to count on the Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras, the Lisbon City Hall, BPI, Sic Esperança and JC Decaux.

"The support given by our partners is very important, and the contribution by the LFF, through the AllStars game, is crucial for helping this project come true" says Maria Teresa Tito de Morais Mendes, from the Portuguese Council for Refugees.

Alongside Luís Figo, Domingos Paciência was also at the event, coaching the team that joined stars like Pauleta, Boa Morte, Sá Pinto, Fernando Couto, Fernando Gomes, Mozer, Cadete, Dimas, Dani, Dominguez, Paulo Madeira, Paulinho Santos, Pedro Xavier and, defending the goal, Taffarel and Carlos.

Everyone made sure they were present at this event, having done their part for the LFF's team, with a score of 4 to 2. Akwa, former player at the international team of Angola, led the "opposing" team of the Associação Kadengue Habilidoso, which, thus being, also raised enough funds to support the Aldeia SOS, in Benguela.
